Capacity Planner - FEATURES

A daily updating 3 month rolling window summarisation of utilisation across your entire estate.  Using an intuitive visualisation and color code, you can quickly identify areas where capacity is either most constrained or over-provisioned.

A default baseline view is created for each user showing Data Centers, Clusters, Hosts and Virtual Machines.

The default time period for the baseline model  is 3 months, however, this can be changed should a longer or shorter modelling duration be required.

Using discovered or user-imported configuration meta-data, the default baseline view configuration can be changed to filter server and storage components.  This allows the user to create dedicated views that present a capacity summary on a subset of the estate.

For example, views can be used to create a filtered baseline view visualisation on a per service, application, line of business or customer basis.

Users can also select the time period for which a Baseline View is associated with by creating a new model.  This allows the user to create Baseline Views of capacity summaries based on a time period that differs from that used by the Default Baseline.

A suite of detailed configurable reports containing a summary of capacity, headroom for growth and primary constraints for all clusters, physical servers and hosts in a chosen Baseline View and time period. These reports can be branded using corporate logo and color schemes.

A suite of detailed configurable reports containing a summary of workloads and virtual machines within a chosen view and time period.  For example, Identifying those VMs where the statistical model of resource utilisation during the working day indicates that metrics are spending unacceptable amounts of time above a given threshold.

Also contains a summary of capacity events associated with virtual machines for a given view and a detailed inventory breakdown.  These reports can be branded using corporate logo and color schemes.

Visualisations dedicated to datastore, physical and virtual disks. Summarising total provisioned capacity, total demand and allocation.  This is summarised on a per Baseline View basis, allowing you to understand storage demand and allocation on a per service, application and line of business perspective.

Analysing trends and patterns in time-series data, projecting growth patterns forward to determine when thresholds will be crossed at some point in the future.  Providing confidence interval information and detailed projected time-series.  Each metric can be configured with individual thresholds and the training period for the prediction algorithm can also be reduced or lengthened accordingly.

Detailed capacity projections into individual OS level drive utilisation for virtual machines.  Providing the same visibility of Capacity Events, but across every drive used by every virtual machine.

The ability to model change scenarios on a chosen Baseline View.  Support for many change scenario use-cases including Physical – Virtual transformation, Data Center consolidation and migration, hardware refresh, rightsizing, demand inflation, onboarding and growth modelling.
